I remember a couple years back reading some threads that were highly critical or skeptical of all products made by Eastern Music, calling them knockoffs or similar things. Lately I’ve been noticing a lot of positive reviews of their products, particularly their saxophones, in Facebook forums.

What surprises me the most is that of all the cuts on day 1 I prefer the V12s the most. For my setup it was the most resonant and responsive. I had always expected the V12s to be even more resistant than the blue box. The V21s were more responsive than the blue box reeds, but articulation was a little mushy. I suspect that is true. Most modern pads have some degree of waterproofing (and sealing of any porosity - apart from kangaroo pads). When badly done it is sticky; when well done it is not stick, and it is very successful. I have a L.A. Sax Big Lip, and I love the sound. It's bright but not too edgy, and it's a beautiful sax for the price. I'm using a Link Supertone 8 and Hard Rico Plasticovers. I've found that the plasticovers help to keep the brightness under control. Though, I wouldn't say their build is the best.
